Ebernoe is an ecclesiastical district, formed in 1875 from Kirdford, and is about 5 miles north of Petworth station on the London, Brighton & South Coast railway, in the north-western division of the county, Arundel rape, Rotherbridge hundred, Petworth petty sessional division, union and county court district, rural deanery of Petworth, archdeaconry and diocese of Chichester. The church of Holy Trinity, erected 1867 by W. Peachey esq. and endowed by Lord Leconfield, is of brick in the Gothic style, and has a belfry containing 1 bell; the are 160 sittings. The register dates from the year 1875. The living is a vicarage, net yearly value £113, with residence and ¾ acre of glebe, in the gift of Lord Leaconfield and trustees of the late John Peachey esq. alternately, and held sine 1894 by the Rev. Edmund Hamilton Elliott M.A. of Durham University. The population in 1901 was 267
