BURPHAM is a parish in the Hundred of Poling and rape of Arundel, 2 ½ miles north east from Arundel, containing 276 inhabitants; it is composed of three hamlets, Burpham, Wipham and Peppering. The living is a vicarage in the archdeaconry and diocese of Chichester; value £145 per annum, in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Chichester and incumbency of the Rev. William Woolams Holland, M.A. The Rev. Robert Foster, M.A. is curate. The church is dedicated to St. Mary.
