Chithurst is a small parish in Dumpford hundred, rape of Chichester, surrounded by Trotton, Iping, Didling and Trayford. Population, in 1831, 172; in 1841, 232. Contains 1,047 acres, of which about 360 are waste and woodland, assessed at £690. The church is in the early English style. The benefice is a curacy united with Iping.
