Ford is a parish 5 ½ miles south-west from Arundel, in Avisford hundred, rape of Arundel, containing 70 inhabitants. The living is a rectory in the archdeaconry & diocese of Chichester, value £197 per annum, and in the patronage of the bishop of Chichester, and incumbency of the Rev. John Atkyns, M.A.; the Rev. John Buckner is curate. The church is principally in the decorated style of English architecture. The Portsmouth & Arundel canal passes through, and it is bounded on the east by the river Arun. The number of acres is 480; the Income Tax assessment, in 1842, was £1,079.
