A very pretty village in Poynings Hundred, Lewes rape, 7 miles north-west from Brighton, 10 from Steyning, and 4 from Henfield. The church is small, with a very neat spire. The area is 1,550 acres, and the population 165, assessed at £1,716. The benefice is a rectory, in the incumbency of the Rev. John Rich.
