The Corpus of Romanesque Sculpture has information about this church
ST. MICHAEL. Restored in 1862. The church has twin naves, but restoration has destroyed the interest in the building, except for the monuments and brasses in the S. chapel. There is a fine brass to Sir John de Braose (1426), as a knight in plate armour; tomb of child under canopy, supposed to be his son. The Sherley memorials have been damaged and many removed; but portions of the tomb of Sr Richard Sherley (1540) remain, in which he is shown standing and his wife kneeling.
Note: coats of arms of the de Braose and other families in the E. and W. windows; roof and stalls of chancel; and old chest. Font is of Sussex marble (late Nor.).
