In the name of God Amen I Robert Shoebridge of the parish of Uckfield in the County of Sussex Gentleman being at present very weake and ill in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory, Praise and thanks begiven to almighty God for the same, being truly sentcible of the frailty of humane nature and the uncertainty of this life doe make publish and declare my last will and testament in manner and forme following First I comend my soule into the hands of Almighty God my creator hopeing and assuredly believing that I shall obtain full and free pardon of all of all my sinnes through the only meritts of Jesus Christ my saviour and Redeemer my body I comitt to the earth from whence it had its originall in a stedfast hope of a joyfull resurrection to everlasting happiness

I give to my sonne Edward if liveing the sum[m]e of one hundred pounds of lawfull money of England And alsoe

ffifty pounds of like lawfull money more or lesse in the hands of my Cosen Richard Comber of Mayfield in the said County of Sussex yeoman And in case he be now dead or departed this mortall life I give devise and dispose the said hundred and ffifty pounds to my wife Roberta Shoebridge absolute Alsoe

after my said sonne Edwards decease I give and dispose my said ffarme and lands in Buckstead aforesaid to my said wife Roberta during her naturall life And after her decease I give devise and dispose the same to my sonne Alexander Shoebridge and his heires forever

Alsoe I give unto my said sonne Alexander when he shall come to the age of one and twenty years and to his heires forever All that my messuage or tenement together with Thirty Eight acres of land more or less situate lying and being at Nuttley in the parish of Maresfield in the said county of Sussex And alsoe a little messuage or tenement together with ffourteene acres of land situate lying and being in the parish of Ringmore in the said County

Moreover I give unto my said sonne Alexander And his heirs for even sevventeen acres of land more or less lying and being in the parish of Weatherfield in the said County of Sussex Also I give devise and bequeath unto my loveing wife Roberta Shoebridge during her life our little cottage or tenement with three acres of land more or less there unto belonging situate and being neare adjoyning to my dwelling house or ffarme called Harlings in the said County of Sussex And after her decease I give and bequeath the same to my sonne Alexander Shoebridge and ^to^ his heirs forevere

Also I give and bequeath to my daughter Anne Shoebridge the sum[m]e of Three hundred pounds of good and lawfull money of England to be paid to her at her day of marriage orr at the age of one and twenty which shall ffirst happen

Alsoe I give to my daughter Roberta Shoebridge the like sum[m]e of Three hundred pounds of like lawfull money to be paid to her att her day of marriage or att the age of one and twenty years which shall ffirst happen

Alsoe I give to my brother John Shoebridge twenty shillings to buy him a ring

Alsoe I give to my brother in lawe Edward K/Redder twenty shillings to buy him a ring

Alsoe I give to my uncle Phillip Michelborne of the parish of St Leonard Shoreditch in the county of Midd[lesex] gent ffourty shillings to buy him and his wife each of them a Ring

Alsoe to all and every of my meniall or household servants I give and bequeath ffive shillings a piece Moreover I leave it to the discrection of my wife Roberta to give Rings to as many and whom she pleaseth

All the Rest and Residue of my Estate –oll and personall what soever ^ and wheresoever I give devise and dispose the same to my said wife Roberta to whom I doe hereby make constitute and appoint my sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament desireing and requiring her to take care To provide for the maintenance of her mother Mrs Lindsey and her maid servant during the life of her said mother

Lastly I doe hereby revoake make void and dismiss all former wills by mee att any time heretofore made And publish this onely and noe other to be my last Will and Testament

In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale The twenty ninth day of May Anno Domini 1669. And in the one and twentieth yeare of the Reigne of our soveraigne lord King Charles the Second p-r Rob[er]t Shoebridge.

Signed Sealed Published and declared to be the last will and testament of Robert Shoebridge above mentioned in the presence of us These eleaven words after the decease of Sarah Lindsey the Relict of Richard Lindsey, being ffirst interlined betwixt the tenth and eleaventh lyne of these presents he alsoe having given to Anne Kedder daughter of Edward Kedder above named Twenty Shillings to buy her a Ring, Sarah Lyndsey above mentioned to receve ffifty pounds a yeare during her life The marke of Thomas Burnhill The marke of Jane Austin R-y Willis ----
