Harrison's description (1911):

ST. MARY. Restored in 1851 and 1884. All styles of architecture are found in this church. N. nave pillars, Tr.-Nor.; the S. pillars, E.E.; clerestory of trefoil-headed windows; chancel windows and piscina with ogee head, Dec.; tower and S. aisle windows, Perp. Font, late Nor. Note: terminals of hood moulding of these windows; 13th c. oak chest; sundial. The monument to William Hayley, the poet, who is buried here (1820), has an epitaph by Mrs. Opie. In the churchyard note epitaph on William Steel, the blacksmith, by Hayley. William Blake also lived in the village.
