Richard Henry Hill, of Castle Banks, Lewes, in the county of Sussex, Saddler and Harness Maker, has given notice at the Office of the Commissioners of his intention to proceed with his application for letters patent for the invention of "a jointed back band for gig or brougham harness, affording instant relief to fallen horses, and always inclining to the draught of the traces. " As set forth in his petition recorded in the said office on the 5th day of October, 1855.
