War Office, 30th October 1918, His Majesty the KING has been graciously pleased to approve, of the award of the Distinguished Conduct Medal to the undermentioned Warrant Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, and Men, for gallantry and distinguished service in the field:— 200318 Cpl. E. J. White, R. Suss. R. (Horsham). For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He took over command of his company when all the officers and non-commissioned officers had become casualties. Under heavy fire and on his own initiative he reorganised the line with great skill and courage. At a critical period his grasp of the situation was largely responsible for the steadiness of his company in the advance.
