ST. THOMAS À BECKET. Restored in 1837. E.E., much altered by restorations. The fine arcade is late 12th c.; E. window is of three lancets. At E. end of N. aisle was a chantry, founded in 1383 by John Bowrere. Note slab in chancel with remains of Lombardic inscription to a former rector. Font, square Nor. S.E. of church is site of archiepiscopal palace.
At Nyetimber are remains of 13th c. hamlet chapel, with a triplet of lancets and a piscina.
