To the KING's Most Excellent Majesty, The humble Address of the Bailiffs, Burgesses and Inhabitants of the Borough of Horsham, in the County of Sussex. WE, your Majesty's most dutiful and loyal Subjects, the Bailiffs, Burgesses and Inhabitants of the Borough of Horsham, in the County of Sussex, beg Leave to approach your Majesty with our unfeigned Thanks for your paternal Care of the Peace and Happiness of all your loving Subjects, and especially for your late most gracious Proclamation for the Suppression of all wicked and seditious Writings, which are intended to disturb our Civil and Religious Liberties, and our most excellent Constitution, in Church and State. Convinced that the Wealth, Happiness and Prosperity of this Kingdom depend upon a due Submission to the Laws, a just Confidence in the Integrity and Wisdom of Parliament, and a zealous Attachment to the Government and Constitution, we will use our utmost Endeavours to prevent the Dispersion of any seditious and wicked Writings, which can tend only to the Encouragement of Riots, Tumults and Disorders, and must inevitably disturb the Peace of this happy Kingdom, the Envy and Admiration of the World. That Divine Providence, which has been pleased to permit your Majesty to reign over a grateful and loyal People for many Years past, may continue to preserve your Majesty in Health, Peace and Happiness, to reign over them for many Years to come, is and shall be the ardent Prayer of your Majesty’s most dutiful and loyal Subjects. William White and William Murrell, Bailiffs.
