Memorandum that upon the Seaventh daya of July An[n]o D[om]ini 1677 JAMES GOATHYER of the p[ar]ish of WEST CHILTINGTON in the County of Sussex yeom[an] being ill & weake in body but in good & p[er]fect sense & memory did make & declare his last Will & Testam[ent] nuncupative in the p[re]sence & heareinge of divers credible Witnesses in mann[e]r and forme in effect as followeth vizt

He gave and bequeathed to his eldest son NICHOLAS GOATHYER twenty shillings to bee paid to him within one month after his decease

And alsoe hee gave and bequeathed to his Grand Daughter MARY GOATHYER Daughter of his said son NICHOLAS GOATHYER twenty shillings to be pai unto her when shee should come of age

Alsoe hee gave & bequeathed to his Daughter MARY GOATHYER the sum of ten pounds to bee paid to her att her day of Marryage if shee had need of itt otherwise itt was his desire itt should remaine in her Brother JAMES GOATHYER his hands untill she should attaine to age and alsoe he gave & bequeathed toher his own ridinge [..?] lt

Alsoe hee gave & bequeathed to his son DANIELL the sum of Tenn pounds to bee paid to him when hee should attaine to age And itt was his will that the said Tenn pounds should remaine in his Brother JAMES GOATHYERs hand to bee paid him when he should come of age as aforesaid

And last the deceased did declare yt if any of his children should bee displeased and should not like well of the Legacyes and bequests given them in and by this his Will by word of mouth as above menc[i]o[n]ed & expressed that they should have but an half part of what he hath given them and not more

And further hee made declared & constituted JOANE GOATHYER his wife and JAMES GOATHYER his sonn Ex[ecu]tors of this his last Will and Testament nuncupative to whom he gave and bequeathed all ye rest of his goods & Chattells whatsoever In witnesse whereof wee the Witnesses p[re]sent att ye time of declaringe the words above said have hereunto putt our hands this fourteenth day of July in the year of our Lord One Thousand Six Hundred Seaventy & Seaven. / Signed THOMAS GOATHYER ANNE BOORN
