This fine large church has a Perp. tower, with lofty shingled spire; E.E. nave with lofty clerestory of lancets over piers of arcades, and kingpost roof; E.E. aisles; Perp. chancel with good five-light E. window; piscina with trefoiled head; massive low wooden (Perp.) screen with row of spikes; stalls with carved misereres. In S. aisle is a moulded E.E. piscina with two drains, one in a trefoiled basin, the other in a quatrefoiled basin. The N. porch (restored) covers a fine shafted E.E. doorway. There is a mutilated iron chest in nave. The W. window is a memorial to Southey, the poet. There is a tablet to John Selden. Font, modern; the old Perp. font has been taken to Melbourne Cathedral. The mosaics are good specimens of modern work. Reg. 1540.
